So thinking of Hiking  Ireland's highest mountain, you’re in the right place. One of the best hikes in Ireland with a distance of 11k, ascent 1039m,/3,414 ft. Walking time is 6 hour strenuous but a thoroughly enjoyable day.No activity holiday would be complete without a hike to Ireland’s highest mountain. Set in the McGillicuddy Reeks range, this mountain range also includes 2 of the country’s other highest peaks, Beenkeeragh 1010 m Caher 1001m.

The climb is challenging, but the views  of the Iveragh and Dingle Peninsulas make it worth the effort. Climbing this magnificent mountain is always a great experience!

In this wild and secluded place we see nature at its best, this is possibly why the mountains attracts 25,000 visitors a year, alas not without fatalities, many come ill prepared lacking proper clothing, footwear,& equipment, the routes are not clearly marked and as the mountain is often covered in mist for most of the year it’s essential to have a basic knowledge of the terrain before embarking on this Hike.

Hiking Carrantuohill is  achievable with a basic level of fitness but you will be walking for 6 hours. There are dangers that come with climbing any mountain so if you aren’t an experienced walker or would prefer to enjoy a great day out without  route finding worries, then allow Brendan to be your guide.
